Xiidra (lifitegrast ophthalmic solution) is an eye drop for the treatment of dry eye disease. Xiidra contains lifitegrast 50 mg/mL (5%).

Follow the instructions that come with your Xiidra prescription. If you have any questions or concerns about your prescription, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The dose is to place one drop in each eye every 12 hours. Xiidra comes in single-use containers. Each single-use container contains enough solution for use in both eyes. Wash your hands thoroughly before using Xiidra. Do not touch the tip of the container to any surface, including your eye, in order to prevent injury and contamination. If you wear contact lenses, take them out before you use Xiidra. You may put them back in after 15 minutes of using Xiidra. Keep the single-use containers in their foil pouch until you're ready to use them. Immediately use Xiidra after opening. Any unused solution should be disposed of after each dose.
Lifitegrast is the active ingredient contained in Xiidra. The inactive ingredients include sodium chloride, sodium phosphate dibasic anhydrous, sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate, and water for injection. Sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid are included for pH balance.

The most common side effects after using Xiidra were irritation at the instillation site, altered taste, and visual disturbances. If you develop side effects that worry you or won't go away, call your doctor right away.
