- Timoptic XE 0.5% is solely meant for eye use and strictly as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually administered as a single drop twice daily in the affected eye. Take care to wash your hands before using the gel. Remove your contact lenses, if you wear them, before instilling the gel into your eye. Wait for at least 15 minutes before replacing your contact lens. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and drop a single drop in the pouch. Close your eye and look downwards.
