- Timoptic eye drops must be used as prescribed by your doctor. Timoptic 0.5% eye drops are usually administered as a single drop twice daily in the affected eye. Take care to wash your hands before using the drops. Also, do not contaminate the dropper tip by letting it touch the eye or any other surface. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before instilling the drops. Wait for at least 15 minutes before replacing your contact lens. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid and drop a single drop in the pouch. Close your eye and look downwards.
