Fluphenazine is a First Generation Antipsychotic (FGA) used for the treatment of mental health disorders. Examples include bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. It also has usage in the management of tics in people with Tourette’s syndrome. Fluphenazine is a piperazine phenothiazine FGA that works by increasing dopamine levels in certain areas of the brain. Regulating dopamine levels can improve psychotic symptoms.

Permitil (Fluphenazine)

  • The dosage is 2.5-10 mg by mouth divided into three or four dosages. Some patients may require much higher dosages, like 40 mg daily.
