Mirena
Mirena is a sterile, progesterone-releasing intrauterine device (IUD). It can be prescribed and inserted by your healthcare provider for the following reasons: Contraception, Treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding IUDs are inserted through the vaginal canal into the uterus. They are designed to release levonorgestrel 20 mcg per day over five years. Mirena should be replaced by a healthcare provider every five years. Fifty percent of the original amount of drug remains after five years.
