Minipress is the brand name for the prescription drug prazosin. Prazosin is used to treat high blood pressure. High blood pressure (or hypertension) is a condition where the blood is pushing too forcefully on the walls of the blood vessels. High pressure can lead to small tears in the vessels and damage to the organs. Left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to cardiovascular events like a heart attack or stroke. Minipress works by relaxing blood vessels and reducing the pressure on the vessel walls. It belongs to a group of medications called alpha-blockers.
