LOZOL (Indapamide) is a prescription medication that can treat edema (swelling caused by fluid buildup) and hypertension (high blood pressure). LOZOL belongs to the thiazide-diuretic class of medications. LOZOL works by causing the kidneys to release extra water and electrolytes into the urine. LOZOL blocks the passage of sodium ions, so sodium cannot re-enter the bloodstream. Chloride ions and water molecules follow the excreted sodium. LOZOL treats edema and hypertension by reducing the amount of fluid in the bloodstream.
