Imitrex StatDose (Sumatriptan)

The standard dosage guideline for the Imitrex Statdose pen is to administer 1 injection as soon as the user identifies the beginning of a migraine headache. Your doctor may advise differently, and always take this medication exactly as indicated in your prescription. Preparation: Suitable injection sites are the upper thighs, abdomen (excluding a 2” radius around navel), or back of upper arms Confirm medication in Imitrex Statdose pen is clear and not cloudy or containing particles before administering the injection Check to make sure the white priming rod is not sticking out from the lower end of the pen. If it is sticking out, put Statdose pen back into carry case and press down firmly until you feel it click. Put the pen in the open cartridge pack and turn it to the right (clockwise) until it will not turn further Hold the loaded pen by the ridges and pull it straight out of the pack Injection: Wipe the injection site with an alcohol swab Without pushing the blue button, press the loaded Imitrex Statdose pen firmly against the skin so that the grey part of the barrel slides against the blue part and cannot be pressed any further. Maintaining this contact will release the safety catch Press and hold down blue button to deliver injection, and keep it down for 5 seconds to ensure entirety of dose is injected Pull pen aways from skin and do not touch needle. Replace needle cap and dispose of pen properly.
