ESTRING (estradiol) is a medication prescribed to treat moderate to severe urogenital symptoms that are caused by postmenopause. ESTRING can treat symptoms of vaginal atrophy including: Burning, Dryness, Dyspareunia, Pruritis ESTRING can also treat symptoms that affect the lower urinary tract including: Dysuria, Urinary urgency ESTRING contains the estrogen hormone estradiol, which releases approximately 7.5 micrograms every 24 hours. Estrogens are responsible for the maintenance of secondary sexual characteristics, and restoring estrogens levels can treat symptoms caused by the reduced estrogen that occurs during menopause. Estring (Estradiol)

Insert ESTRING into the upper third of the vaginal canal and wear it continuously for 90 days. ESTRING is designed to continuously release medication over this period of time. ESTRING is an opaque ring with a whitish core.
ESTRING should not be used by women with a current clotting disorder or history of one. Examples include deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), cardiovascular accident (stroke), or myocardial infarction (heart attack) Do not use ESTRING if you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant. ESTRING should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver function. ESTRING may increase the risk of certain cancers like endometrial cancer, breast cancer, and ovarian cancer. Speak with your doctor about your risk before starting ESTRING.
