Your doctor may prescribe Doryx for acne or a variety of other infective conditions, including: Respiratory tract infections, Sexually transmitted infections, Malaria prophylaxis, Other bacterial infections that are susceptible to doxycycline Doryx is an antibacterial agent that works by preventing the replication of many different types of bacteria. It is not known how this medication works to treatacne, but it is thought that certain types of bacteria may contribute to the development of acne.
Doryx (Doxycycline Hyclate)
- The standard dosage is 100mg by mouth twice daily on the first day of treatment, followed by 100 mg once daily for as long as directed. For severe acne infections, the dosage may be increased to 100 mg twice daily. Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water. Painfulesophageal ulcershave been reported when the capsule becomes lodged in the throat.
