Chloroquine malaria treatment is a medication approved to prevent and treat malaria infection. It can also be prescribed to treatextraintestinal amebiasis. Chloroquine is an anti-infective agent that works by binding to DNA and RNA polymerase in parasites. By blocking these proteins, chloroquine interferes with normal parasite metabolism. It also concentrates within the acid vesicles of parasites, causing a pH shift that impairs their growth.
