BUCCASTEM (prochlorperazine) is a medication prescribed to treat nausea and vomiting associated with migraine. While the generic drug prochlorperazine is available in the United States, this particular formulation is not. BUCCASTEM works by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain. Dopamine receptors are involved in regulating several processes in the body, including nausea and vomiting.

  • Place 1-2 tablet(s) in the mouth between the lip and gums twice daily for up to two days. Use BUCCASTEM as directed by your physician. After placing the tablet, it will soften and stick to the gums. Do not move the tablet around in the mouth as this will cause it to dissolve too quickly. The tablet should dissolve over one to two hours. Take BUCCASTEM after meals.
