The Bricanyl inhaler is a prescription asthma treatment medication used as an asthma rescue inhaler to provide fast-acting relief when asthma attacks occur. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator drug that works to open the airways into the lungs and for most people they experience relief and easier breathing within 5 minutes of taking an inhalation. The Bricanyl turbuhaler may also be prescribed for people with chronic bronchitis or as an inhaler for emphysema treatment. Each inhalation should provide 5 to 7 hours of relief, but people may experience different levels of effectiveness with this asthma rescue inhaler.

Bricanyl (Terbutaline)

  • Take one inhaled dose of Bricanyl from the inhaler at the first instance of an asthma attack beginning. Unscrew and lift off?cap. Hold?turbuhaler?upright and twist colored base around and then all the way back to load and prepare the dose for inhalation. Exhale your breath and be sure to be facing away from the?Turbuhaler?when doing this.? Place mouthpiece in mouth and have mouth firmly forming a seal over the inhaler tip. Breathe in through mouth forcefully and deeply, then remove?Turbuhaler?from the mouth and you're your breath for 5 seconds. Breathe out gently away from?the Turbuhaler, and replace the cap. Take additional doses as needed for emergency asthma attack relief, but do not take more than 6 doses in a day. If medication is ineffective you should speak to your doctor regarding other treatment approaches.
