- Take Augmentin exactly as your doctor has prescribed. You should complete the full course as prescribed, even if you start to feel better. The dosage and duration of Augmentin depends on the age of the patient and the type of infection that is being treated. Generally, patients take Augmentin every 8 to 12 hours. Augmentin suspension should be shaken well before using and stored in the refrigerator; discard it after 10 days.
